Beat the 2018 deadline -
don’t lose your right to claim

Many people have been mis-sold PPI insurance. Check below to see if you can reclaim PPI.

There is no definitive definition of 'Mis-selling' in the context of Payment Protection Insurance. However, if you can answer yes to just one of the questions below, you may be entitled to a PPI refund.

  • Were you told or given the impression that it was compulsory, or that it would increase your chances of being given finance?
  • Were you unaware you were taking out a PPI policy?
  • Were you self-employed, unemployed or retired at the time you took the policy out?
  • Were you under 18 or over 65?
  • Did the seller/advisor fail to fully explain the terms and conditions of the policy to you?
  • Did you feel pressured to take out the policy?
  • Were you suffering from any medical conditions at the time you took the policy out?

If that answer to any of the above is yes, then you may be eligible for a PPI repayment.

Frequently Asked PPI Claims Questions

What can I do if I am not sure if I have PPI?

We have a system that we can use to help find the details of your contract.

What is a ‘mis-sold’ PPI?

For over 10 years many banks and brokers sold clients PPI that they didn’t want or need. PPI can only be properly sold if it is in the client’s best interest.

A majority of the mis-selling took place when a lump sum loan for PPR was added to a loan, with the client having to bear the cost of the interest as well. Most sales to civil servants, NHS staff, teachers, the armed forces, police, prison officers, council employees are likely to be worth investigating.

How long will it take for my claim to be settled?

It can take anything between six weeks and two years to settle a claim. It depends if you have to go to court or the Ombudsman. If the claim is successful you could get back 100% of the money paid for PPI.

My loan is still running – how do I cancel my PPI?

If you make monthly payments on a credit card or store card, you simply have to send them a letter. It may be more difficult to cancel if your PPI is a lump sum that’s been added to your loan.

I’m worried my bank will penalise me or prevent me from doing business with them.

The bank is not allowed to punish you for reclaiming the PPI to which you are legally entitled. You will be able to continue banking with them as normal.

I might have to get finance again. Will PPI affect my credit rating?

No. PPI claims are not relevant to your credit rating.

What if I had more than one loan or credit arrangement with PPI?

You can reclaim for each individual PPI policy. It is simply a case of making a claim to each PPI provider with whom you dealt.

I’m still paying the loan off. Can I reclaim?

You can still reclaim. You will be entitled to have the PPI you have paid refunded to you. Some providers may reduce your outstanding amount by the amount they have to repay you though.

What if I’ve paid the loan/finance off?

You can still reclaim. There is no need for the loan to still be active. What matters is that you were mis-sold PPI and you paid for the policy.

Will I get my PPI repayment? What if the lender doesn’t want to pay?

If a company mis-sold PPI, they are obliged to repay. CBC Solicitors know the process and are experts at negotiating with financial institutions. Don’t leave anything to chance. Engage our services in your PPI claim.

The company who sold me PPI no longer exists. Can I still reclaim?

Again, enlisting CBC Solicitors can solve this problem. We can track down companies and find out if they have been taken over. If they have, the company who took them over owe you the money.

I’ve had a loan, but I’m not sure if I had PPI with it.

PPI is just an umbrella term for a variety of policies which all do the same thing. It may have been called Accident, Sickness and Unemployment Cover, Loan Protection, Loan Insurance, Loan Protection, Credit Card repayment protection, Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI), Personal Loan Protection amongst other names. In reality, most loans taken out in the last few years will have had PPI attached in some form or another.

What if I’m unsuccessful? What are the repercussions?

There are none. If you are not successful you can carry on doing business with the bank or finance institution in question as normal. There is no negative impact on your credit rating or anything else. We operate on a no-win, no-fee basis so you pay us nothing if we do not succeed with your PPI claim.

What type of loans can I claim on?

Any loan which had PPI attached. These include car loans/finance, mortgages, credit cards, bank loans and consumer finance.

Can I pursue a claim on my own?

Yes, there is no restriction on who can claim. In reality though, most people prefer to go through a PPI claims company like ourselves. Banks and other companies are understandably reluctant to pay out so using an expert company is advisable if you want to get your full refund as quickly as possible.

How much will my claim be worth?

Claim settlements vary by bank and loan provider. We have recently received a settlement for one client of £45,000 but the average refund claim tends to be between £2500 and £3000. You can call us 7 days a week, provide your details securely online or contact us with any questions you have here.

I signed the payment protection insurance agreement. Can I still claim?

Yes. In all our settlements to date, our clients have signed the agreement. This will not disqualify you from claiming.

What do you mean no win, no fee - surely there's a catch?

No. There is no catch. Our Solicitors operate strictly on a no win, no fee basis. There are no upfront costs, no set up fees and no registration fees. If our Solicitors are successful for you, their fee is the equivalent of 30%(+VAT) and this will be payable by you to the instructed Solicitors from your settlement.

What does your fee cover?

The fee covers everything including professional and legal fees. You have no more to pay.

Okay, it seems like I can make a claim. What do I have to do?

Simply get in touch with our expert PPI Claim lawyers and we will take your claim forward for you. All you have to do is provide us with any paperwork you have and we’ll get to work on your claim right away. If you do not have any paperwork or details of your loan we can still help you. We just need the name of your Lender!

If you have any queries which are not covered here, CBC Solicitors are happy to advise you on any aspect of your PPI reclaim.

Bank Delays Are Prolonging PPI Scandal

In a recent article, the Times have pointed out the delays customers are facing in reclaiming their PPI from banks. Banks appear to be simply fobbing of deserving customers who are entitled to have their compensation repaid. Over 1500 complaints PER DAY are rejected, despite the banks' pledging to settle claims fairly.

The article reveals that banks are telling customers they never had a PPI policy in the first place and overstating the frequency of 'bogus' PPI claims. Lloyds Banking Group & TSB appears to be the worst offender, with 98% of complaints made to the FSA about them being upheld.

If you are having difficulty in reclaiming PPI from your bank, or you have been 'fobbed off', give us a call. We are PPI Claims specialists and we have reclaimed over £45million for our customers so far.

CBC Solicitors is regulated by the Claims Management Regulator in respect of regulated claims management activities and operate on a strictly no win, no fee basis (However, should the Solicitor be instructed and you decide yourself not to pursue the case, the Solicitor in that case and in that case only would be entitled to charge a fee, with the fee rate stated in your signed original contract). Therefore, you will have no upfront payments, no set-up costs and no registration fees. Here at CBC Solicitors we have won a high volume of settlements and operate in a professional and efficient manner.
