Colin Peter Carr (Partner)

Colin qualified as a solicitor in 1980 after graduating from Glasgow University. He became a Partner of CBC with Martin Berman and David Crichton in 2000. 

Previously Colin was a sole practitioner with his own firm in Rutherglen – Colin P Carr Solicitors – and before that Colin was in the same premises as an assistant and then a partner with Hamilton Burns & Moore.

Martin Berman (Partner)

Martin Berman qualified as a solicitor in 1978 having graduated from Glasgow University.

Martin trained with the firm of Shaughnessy, Quigley & McColl and became a partner in that firm. After that Martin moved to John S Boyle, Solicitors and then formed CBC.

Robert Westwood (Solicitor)

Robert is a Lanarkshire boy through and through having been born and brought up in Motherwell. He trained at Glasgow University, graduating in 1983 and completed his traineeship with Ballantyne & Copland, eventually ending up at their head office in Motherwell. He progressed through the ranks with that Firm until he became senior partner of the firm in 2007. He joined Carr Berman Crichton in 2012.

Robert has been the President of both Motherwell and District Chamber of Commerce and Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and was on the board of the latter until 2012.

He is a founder member of one of Lanarkshire’s premier breakfast business clubs, the 1700 Club.

Robert is keen on both football (supporting his local team, Motherwell) and rugby (both his sons play for Dalziel RFC). A vociferous reader, particularly of science fiction, and very keen on travelling.

Susan Greierson (Associate Solicitor)

CBC-solicitors-susan griersonSusan joined us in September 2015 as Associate Solicitor in our Family Law Unit Rutherglen office. She is a native to the West coast having spent her childhood residing in Kilwinning and then in Gourock. She studied at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where she obtained her Honours Law Degree and Diploma in Legal Practice, before relocating to the East coast where she trained, qualifying in 2002. Susan continued to practice in the East coast until 2013 when she moved back West to the Glasgow area where she has been practising ever since.

Susan’s experience is in litigation in various areas of law including family, reparation, criminal, landlord and tenant and cases involving adults with incapacity. Latterly her focus has been in the area of family law.

She is registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide advice in relation to civil and children’s matters.

Susan lives locally and continues to enjoy living in the area since her relocation, which brought her back closer to her family. In her free time Susan likes to socialise with friends and family, exercise (with yoga being a particular favourite), read, listen to music and attend concerts, watch TV and films and to travel.

Esther Carroll Bennett (Paralegal)

cbc_solicitors_esther_bennettEsther has been employed by the firm since April 2014 in our Family Law Unit. She is a native of the West of Scotland, although spent many years residing and working in the East of Scotland. She studied, on a part time basis, at Strathclyde University where she gained her diplomas in Debt Management/Landlord & Tenancy Matters. Family Law was gained through working experience over a period of some 27 years, and with the Scottish Paralegal Society, covering all aspects of separation, divorce and contact. Lately, Esther’s focus has been in relation to Financial and Welfare Guardianship applications. She is registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide advice in relation to civil matters and is a member of the Law Society of Scotland.

Esther now resides locally in Glasgow with her husband and continues to enjoy living in the area since her relocation to Glasgow. In her free time Esther likes to socialise with her husband, friends and family, read and travel. Esther is based in our Rutherglen Office.
